If you’re looking for a dessert to take to a small gathering, Trader Joe’s latest bakery item might be what you’re looking for. Or, it might be something you choose to keep to yourself because it’s that good.
The chain is famous for its sweet offerings, such as Kringles or banana pudding-flavored ice cream. However, it’s also known for stocking many of these goodies only seasonally, so there’s always a rotating array to choose from.
In the past, Trader Joe’s has offered a Mini Lemon Sheet Cake in the spring that sells out quickly. It’s so good that fans bring a “purse fork” to dig in immediately after buying it. Now, TJ’s has brought back another sheet cake flavor that has fans packing forks in their purses yet again.
Trader Joe’s Carrot Mini Sheet Cake Is Back
Trader Joe’s mini sheet cakes look exactly like a miniature version of a regular sheet cake. They’re a little more than a pound of cake and frosting, and this version might be one of the best combos of cake and frosting ever: carrot cake and cream cheese frosting.
Priced at $5.99, Trader Joe’s describes the describes the returning cake as “festively spiced” with walnuts and “cream cheese icing ribbons” with a “tinge of tanginess.” The Carrot Mini Sheet Cake debuted in 2024 to rave reviews, and, when it returned last year, fans on Reddit said they have been “waiting over a year for [it] to come back in stock.”
Many other Redditors have praised the cake, writing, “They were giving samples at my store and literally people were grabbing multiples…me included…so good.”
Another fan added, “OMG I finally listened to this sub and got one today. Needless to say, 1/3 is already gone. Eating it straight out of the container with a spoon.”
“I ate an entire one yesterday,” one commenter even admitted.
When it debuted, one Redditor joked, “Time for my purse fork to make a reappearance,” to which another responded, “The purse/car fork is a must if you’re a TJ’s regular.”
So be sure to pack a fork in your purse (or car) before leaving the house because, just like Tiffani Theissen, we know the best things from a Trader Joe’s shopping trip are meant to be enjoyed in the front seat, on the ride home. Now BRB—gotta run to TJ’s, fork in hand!
