A CPU cooler doesn’t have to be expensive to be great. If you have a hot-running CPU, the ID-COOLING FROZN A620 PRO SE is all you really need. It’s a chunky air cooler with two 120mm fans that do an excellent job at keeping your modern AMD Ryzen or Intel CPU cool without breaking the bank.
Dual-tower designs aren’t common in this price range, which is one of several factors that contribute to the A620 PRO SE’s excellent cooling performance.
The split heatsink design, along with the six 6mm copper heatpipes and base, allows for superior heat dissipation, and the fan that sits between the two is in an ideal spot to push a lot of hot air away from the cooler. You can even add a third fan in the back for even greater cooling performance, assuming your I/O ports aren’t unusually tall—not that you’ll need that many fans.
This $30 cooler proves you don’t need liquid cooling for high-end chips
Who knew $30 could buy this much cooling power?
While the included ID-COOLING fans aren’t as quiet as some of the high-end stuff from Noctua and be quiet!, they’re still pretty quiet while delivering excellent cooling performance. In fact, it’s hard to find a cooler that performs this well, even if you double your CPU cooler budget.
Realistically speaking, the A620 PRO SE is all that most people are ever going to need. With a TDP of 260W, it won’t struggle to keep up with even the hottest-running CPUs (even the spicy 14th-gen Intel chips). Plus, unlike a liquid cooler, it doesn’t have extra parts like a water pump that will eventually break or fittings that can start to leak without warning.
At a height of 157mm and 40mm RAM clearance, the A620 PRO SE can fit into most builds. However, you should always double-check these measurements before finalizing your build to ensure you don’t run into fitment issues. In the case of tall RAM sticks, you can move the front fan up to fit RAM up to 63mm tall.
It’s worth noting that the fans on this $30 cooler don’t have any RGB, which is perfectly fine if you’re over glowing PC parts. The sleek all-black cooler and plastic trim that covers the top of the heatsink will look the part in most PC builds.
However, if that’s a deal-breaker for you, there’s a $40 variant of this cooler that comes with dual ARGB fans you can sync via the motherboard’s RGB header.
Its closest competitor is the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE. The A620 PRO SE beats it in most online benchmarks while being slightly cheaper and, in my opinion, offering a significantly better-looking package. All in all, it’s hard to go wrong with the ID-COOLING FROZN A620 PRO SE.
