With the holiday season approaching, you’re likely looking for easy recipe ideas that you can make for the parade of holiday parties, white elephant exchanges, and family get-togethers you have planned over the next month. We know that between holiday shopping, baking, and planning your Christmas Day menu, the emphasis on “easy” is a must for appetizers.

Personally, I’m a sucker for any appetizer that uses fewer than five ingredients—the fewer, the better. And my best friend has one of the best secret-weapon appetizer recipes you can make in a pinch with just two ingredients.

My friend has been making this easy appetizer recipe for years. If the signature pull-apart bread isn’t at a party, people will revolt. The recipe couldn’t be any easier: All you need is a tube of refrigerated crescent roll dough and a package of Boursin cheese.

You likely already know where this recipe is going, but I’ll walk you through it since she uses a different rolling method than you might expect for crescent roll dough.

How to Make 2-Ingredient Pull-Apart Boursin Bread

To make the easy Boursin-stuffed, flaky pull-apart bread, unroll the package of dough and cut the pieces along the perforated edges. Then, cut each crescent dough piece in half.

From there, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of Boursin cheese to each slice of dough—or, to make it extra easy, you can use Boursin Bites and place one bite onto each piece of dough. Instead of rolling the crescent dough as you would when you’re making the actual rolls, simply pinch the edges of the dough around the Boursin cheese and roll the whole thing into a ball. You can, of course, shape the crescent dough like actual crescent rolls, but the balls are much easier to make and are more versatile in that you can shape them into different designs.

Place the prepared balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. You can arrange the dough balls into a design, like a Christmas tree, wreath, football, or whatever your heart desires, if you want. Then, bake in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Serve warm.

    Variations on Pull-Apart Boursin Bread

I love this appetizer because it’s so simple and delicious, yes, but also because you can mix it up for almost any occasion. For holiday parties, you can shape it into a Christmas tree. For the Super Bowl, you can make it look like a football. The sky’s the limit on the design—especially if you want to use some garnishes to go all out.

Plus, because Boursin has so many different flavor varieties of its soft cheese, the filling could be different every time. Obviously, the Garlic and Herb Boursin is the most classic, but I’ll be making this appetizer with the limited-edition Rosemary & Black Garlic flavor this year.

I’ve never been to a party where this pull-apart appetizer didn’t disappear quickly. As the holiday season starts this year, don’t thank me, thank my friend for this genius recipe.
