Taco Bell ended 2025 on a high note with one of its biggest menu launches of the year. The chain brought back the highly anticipated Quesarito, a quesadilla and burrito hybrid made with rice, beef, chipotle sauce, and sour cream inside a burrito-wrapped grilled quesadilla shell that’s made with both nacho cheese sauce and melted cheeses, and fans quickly took to social media to share their excitement.
But, if 2025 ended with a bang for Taco Bell, then 2026 is starting with an even fierier one because the chain has something special erupting on Jan. 8. Taco Bell is bringing back an old-school Quesarito variation that hasn’t been seen since its original run in 2015.
Taco Bell’s Volcano Quesarito is back on menus.
Taco Bell Brings Back Volcano Quesarito
Taco Bell
In 2015, Taco Bell introduced the Volcano Quesarito to bring back the spicy Lava Sauce that many fans loved. The Volcano Quesarito featured the same ingredients as the original Quesarito, but with a fiery dose of Lava Sauce to spice things up.
While the Volcano Quesarito was only ever sold once as a limited-time offering, it left a mark on fans.
“Anyone remember the Volcano Quesarito from 2015? I would start wars for this back,” one Reddit user wrote.
“Bring it back, best menu item ever,” another Redditor agreed.
Much like with the calls for the Quesarito’s return, Taco Bell has obliged—however, this Volcano Quesarito has a slight tweak. Instead of the Lava Sauce, which Taco Bell most recently brought back in 2023, the Volcano Quesarito will now be topped with a new Volcano Sauce.
Taco Bell says its new Volcano Sauce is still part of the Lava Sauce “family,” but “with an even-more-craveable kick.” It sounds like the new sauce will be even hotter and bolder than the original.
The Volcano Quesarito will feature the same rice, beef, chipotle sauce, and sour cream as the original, but in a burrito-wrapped, grilled, cheesy quesadilla shell, with Volcano Sauce added to the shell.
In addition to the Volcano Quesarito, now available at Taco Bell restaurants nationwide, the chain is also releasing an entire Volcano Style Menu, available exclusively on the Taco Bell app. The menu lets you add spicy Volcano Sauce to a slew of existing favorites.
The Volcano Style Menu includes a Volcano Crunchy Taco, Volcano Crunchwrap, Volcano Cheesy Gordita Crunch, Volcano Steak Fries, and Volcano Nachos BellGrande.
The Volcano Quesarito and entire Volcano Style Menu will be available for a limited time. And you won’t want to miss it, because there’s no telling when the spicy Quesarito will return—it might take another 10 years.
