Sony has just launched a new pair of TWS earbuds called LinkBuds Clip. Instead of following the usual in-ear design seen on the latest AirPods Pro or Galaxy Buds Pro, these are open-ear earbuds that clip onto your ear.

Indeed, Sony has presented a fresh take on TWS earbuds that aims to blend private audio with real-world awareness, something traditional earbuds don’t offer (either through a passive seal or active noise cancellation).

A clip-on design built for awareness, not isolation

The Sony LinkBuds Clip adopts a C-shaped, clip-on design that hangs outside the ear canal. From their unique position, the earbuds can deliver sound directly into your ear while allowing ambient sounds (like traffic, conversations, or announcements) to remain audible.

This is the product’s main selling point. No matter what you’re listening to, whether it is a music track, a podcast, or a call, the LinkBuds Clip lets you be aware of your surroundings, making them suitable for daily commuters, workers, or anyone who doesn’t like isolation.

The LinkBuds Clip offers three listening modes: Standard (for everyday use), Voice Boost (for podcasts or calls), and Sound Leakage Reduction (for quiet spaces). They also provide several flagship-grade audio features, including DSEE music upscaling, 360 Reality Audio, and a 10-band customizable EQ via the Sony Sound Connect app.

To improve call quality, Sony uses bone-conduction technology and AI noise reduction. On a single charge, the earbuds can last up to 9 hours, while the charging case extends the playback time to 37 hours. The earbuds also support quick charging, with a 3-minute charge providing around 1 hour of playback time.

You can also use the LinkBuds Clip for your daily cardio or light exercise sessions, as it has an IPX4 sweat- and splash-resistant rating.

Available in Black, Greige, Green, and Lavender finishes, the Sony LinkBuds Clip retail for $229.99 in the United States. You can purchase them via the company’s official website, Best Buy, and Amazon. With the earbuds, you can also get optional case covers and fitting cushions.
