A recent Windows 11 preview update might be the reason your computer feels off. Microsoft’s December 1 non-security release brings a handful of visual tweaks and gaming perks, but the trade-off for some people is a pair of bugs.
The first one shows up in File Explorer—if you use dark mode, File Explorer might flash a white screen when you first open it or when you jump between Home and Gallery, create a new tab, toggle the Details pane on or off, or choose More details when copying files.
The other issue involves the lock screen, where the icon for entering a password can disappear. The button still works when you hover over the empty space, but there’s no visible cue to guide you.
Microsoft says it’s working on fixes for both problems, so the only way around these issues at the moment is to wait for Microsoft’s patch or uninstall the updates manually.
