Byte-Sized Brief
- One UI 8.5 beta adds photo tools and smarter sharing.
- Audio Broadcast includes voice sharing through Auracast.
- New security tools protect your data if you lose your phone.
Samsung is kicking off its One UI 8.5 beta with a tighter focus on creation, sharing, and security. Photo Assist now keeps all your edit history in one place so that you can scroll through the changes you’ve made and pick your favorite iteration to keep.
Quick Share is smarter, too, as it can identify people in your photos and suggest sending the images straight to them, saving you time.
Photo Assist keeps a record of edits to choose from.

The One UI 8.5 update also expands device-to-device features.
Audio Broadcast can send the phone’s audio or your own voice to nearby Auracast devices, and Storage Share brings files from your other Galaxy devices (including TVs) into the My Files app, and also allows the phone’s files to appear on supported Samsung screens.
This update also includes a Theft Protection tool called Failed Authentication Lock, which can automatically lock the phone’s screen if the incorrect fingerprint, password, or PIN is entered too many times.
Additionally, Samsung says identity check now protects more settings than ever before.
The Bottom Line
Samsung’s One UI 8.5 beta introduces better photo editing and smarter sharing across Galaxy devices, plus some stronger security tools. It rolls out starting today, first to Galaxy S25 users in select countries.
