During a recent visit to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, actress Natalie Portman took The Colbert Questionert. For those unfamiliar, The Colbert Questionert is a Q&A segment designed to “penetrate to the soul of someone so they’ll be fully known by the audience.”

The hard-hitting series has revealed a lot about our favorite celebrities, from their first concert to the animals they’re most afraid of. But at Allrecipes, we care about one factoid more than any other: What are their favorite foods?

After bravely accepting Colbert’s invitation to take The Colbert Questionert, Portman was asked, “What is the best sandwich?” She gave an answer that stopped us in our tracks. It’s a 3-ingredient classic that’s not only simple but also very nostalgic.

    Natalie Portman’s Favorite 3-Ingredient Sandwich

Portman told Colbert that her favorite sandwich is peanut butter and jelly. The iconic, kid-friendly staple is beloved by the “Black Swan” actress, and it turns out she’s not the only one.

The simple 3-ingredient PB&J is also loved by a slew of other celebrities. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis says the peanut butter and jelly sandwich is her and her husband’s “love language.” Taylor Swift’s fiancé, Travis Kelce, says that he eats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich “more than anything else in the world.”

There are plenty of celebrity variations on the classic PB&J as well. Elvis Presley famously added bacon and banana (and omitted the jelly) to his peanut butter sandwiches. It became so iconic that the combination is dubbed “The Elvis.” Magic Mike actor Channing Tatum told the Today Show that his go-to sandwich is “peanut butter, jelly, and Cheetos.” And, if you thought that sounds unhinged, actress Julia Roberts has a sweet-and-salty childhood favorite that might take the crown for peculiar add-ons; she used to love peanut butter and jelly with sour cream and onion potato chips.

Portman is in great company with her answer. After all, comfort food is comfort food, even for a superstar.
