When it comes to delicious, unique, and innovative snack foods, Frito-Lay is that brand. In the last few months, the company has graced its fans with multiple new line-ups and flavors, including revamped versions of Cheetos and Doritos, and even sweet chip iterations such as PopCorners Cocoa Crunch and Smartfood Chocolate Caramel popcorn. Now, the company is dropping not one, but two new flavors of a long-time favorite chip—and fans are already excited.
Frito-Lay Releases New Baked Lay’s Roasted Garlic & Herbs and Baked Lay’s Loaded Baked Potato Chips
One of the most underrated Lay’s potato chips, in my opinion, is the Baked Lay’s. While the line is built on having less fat than regular potato chips, the real selling point for me is the perfect airy crunch. And even though they’re baked rather than fried, the cooking process doesn’t come at a sacrifice for the flavor, which is why two new flavors are definitely worth some excitement.
Now, Roasted Garlic & Herbs and Loaded Baked Potato will join the Baked Lay’s lineup alongside Classic, BBQ, and Salt & Vinegar. These baked crisps are now made with olive oil and boast 50% less fat than regular potato chips—but more importantly, they’re extra crispy. The Roasted Garlic & Herb crisps are dusted with a savory seasoning blend of, well, roasted garlic and herbs, of course.
The new Loaded Baked Potato Baked Lay’s are seasoned with the iconic flavors of classic toppings for a roasted spud, including green onions, smoky bacon, cheese, and a dash of black pepper.
While the flavor may be spot-on, unlike a soft baked potato, the Baked Potato Lay’s deliver the baked line’s signature airy crunch that’s so satisfying. And, if social media is any indication, fans are absolutely stoked about the two new additions to the baked chips lineup.
“BAKED GETTING NEW FLAVORS???” wrote one excited commenter on food blogger @snachwithzach’s Instagram post sharing the new release. “Finally,” added another Baked Lay’s fan.
One commenter on @snackwire’s post was especially excited about a particular flavor, writing that “roasted garlic and herb will save me.”
Another chimed in, adding “Those new baked chips look good! Although I wish they’d bring back baked Doritos.” Unfortunately, though, beggars can’t be choosers—but, for now, at least we get not one, but two brand-new Baked Lay’s flavors.
The new flavors are scheduled to hit stores in early January, meaning you can ring in the new year with a little extra crunch. Until then, I’ll be dreaming of chip and dip combos—because Loaded Baked Potato Lay’s and pub cheese sound like a match made in baked chips heaven.
