How It Reduced Dust and Odors at Home

I’m a bit of an air purifier fanatic. I have a sensitive nose, allergies, and a toddler, so all of these factors contribute to both being very willing to try out various models and being discerning about the actual benefits.

When I was presented with the chance to test the RabbitAir A3 Ultra Quiet smart air purifier, I was curious to see how it could improve the air quality in the rooms we spend the most time in.

And I was impressed from unboxing. Here’s what else I discovered after a little over a week of dedicated use.

Key Features and Findings

I’d been looking for a more powerful, smart air purifier for our open concept kitchen and living room, which made the chance to test the Rabbit A3 hugely appealing—especially with the specialized odor-removing filter to absorb cooking smells.

After spinning it up, I knew that this model was the perfect one for this combined space.

Setup: While my sample unit came with the personalized Odor Remover layer installed, the filter placement process is one of the easiest I’ve encountered in a machine with multiple filter layers.

The cover is magnetic, which makes for straightforward removal and replacement, and all the filter components snap into place with ease.

I’m a big fan of noticeably informative quick-start guides, and the RabbitAir A3’s guide aces that test. The RabbitAir app also walks through each step of the connection and pairing process to remove any guesswork.

The one oddity of setup was having to enter a serial number located on the bottom of the unit, which required awkwardly fumbling to turn the A3 on its side to capture it.

Besides that, though, finding my unit, pairing it, and connecting to Wi-Fi was speedy and took minutes.

App and Smart Features: The RabbitAir app interface is clean and straightforward, with clearly labeled controls for adjusting speed, enabling various modes, including around lighting, schedules, timers, and my favorite, child lock.

There’s also a convenient filter indicator percentage level and a link to purchase a filter refill directly within the app.

I found remote access through the app convenient for my daily needs, but if you use Alexa, the A3 is Alexa-compatible if you prefer to interact with your air purifier that way.

While you can drill down for a quick real-time overview of air quality levels, down to PM 1.0, PM 2.5, and PM 10 levels, there’s no historical reporting in the app.

However, when I asked about reporting, the company informed me that customers can contact customer service directly to receive long-term data if you’re curious about air quality trends in your home.

Noise Levels and Performance: Two of my favorite performance aspects of the A3 include the ability to set the fan speed on manual mode and let the device do its smart thing on auto-mode.

These are the configurations I interacted with the most, adjusting fan speed manually when cooking smells lingered or turning the sensitivity up to its highest, level 5, when I wanted the air purifier to work a bit harder.

As the name indicates, this A3 model aims to perform efficiently and quietly, and it really does just that.

At its highest fan speed it’s still markedly quieter than other models I’ve tested, which tend to get distractingly loud the higher you crank them up.

Honestly, right when I unboxed and plugged this baby in I observed a huge difference in air quality, specifically odors and what felt like irritants, like dust and general seasonal allergies that had been bothering me.

RabbitAir even reports that lab testing proves this unit is capable of removing up to 99.9 percent of mold spores in 30 minutes.

We don’t have a mold problem or terrible air quality in our home, but once the A3 got to work against cooking smells, I felt reassured. It was sensing what my human nose was detecting and springing into action as advertised.

In my book, the six levels of filtration, including HEPA and a specialized Odor Removal layer, made a noticeable difference in our home’s air quality almost immediately.

Design: Perhaps one of the most unique aspects of the RabbitAir A3 is that its wall-mountable and customizable with a personalized skin. I chose a standard white design, but folks who want to blend this machine into their decor, as a sort of art piece, have numerous options to choose from.

RabbitAir also explains that there’s a benefit to placing the unit on the wall or on a higher surface, to increase efficacy, especially when placed near the source of whatever you’re hoping to mitigate.

In my case, I put this unit on a kitchen counter ledge, which proved far more effective at battling cooking smells than when I originally placed it on the floor.

I also like the mood lighting option and night light feature. The display can also dim completely.

If I had to nitpick one design aspect that doesn’t quite make sense its the onboard LED interface.

The indicators float around in an attractive way, but it’s tricky to discern what they mean without referencing the manual. However, like me, I don’t think most customers, regardless of whether you’re using this in a smart bedroom or kitchen, will be using the machine that way given the convenience of remote app control.
