at IBM TechXchange, I spent a lot of time around teams who were already running LLM systems in production. One conversation that stayed with me came from LangSmith, the folks who build tooling for monitoring, debugging, and evaluating LLM workflows. I originally assumed evaluation was mostly about benchmarks and accuracy numbers. They pushed back on that immediately. Their point was straightforward: a model that performs well in a notebook can still behave unpredictably in real usage. If you are not evaluating against realistic scenarios, you are not aligning anything. You are simply guessing. Two weeks ago, at Cohere Labs Connect…

I have a lot of headphones that come through my home every year — and I mean a lot. Many of them are at the higher end of most people’s budget (and getting more expensive due to tariffs), but you don’t have to spend top dollar to get great performance. Sure, a budget pair of headphones can’t necessarily go toe-to-toe (or ear-to-ear) with flagships from Sony, Bose, or Sennheiser. Even so, there are cans for under $100 that deliver impressive performance for the price. One of those is the Soundcore Space One, which are on sale at Amazon, Best Buy,…

Elegant is how one might best describe a pavlova, with its delicate bone white shell and pillowy, airy middle. In this version it is married to another classic from the dessert canon, Black Forest cake, for an ethereal holiday dessert designed to wow.For all its impressiveness, the ingredients in a pavlova shell are shockingly spare. If I don’t work, my revenue is $0. I run a solo business, so my income is 100% dependent on me. So what would happen if I couldn’t work?Would my clients understand?Would my social media engagement take a nosedive?Would my business crumble?I found out this year when I was diagnosed with a brain…

[Image: Vicky Wasik]. “Judging by how popular this recipe is on our site, I might be the only person who hasn’t made tartiflette yet. I’m planning to fix that this December, when I serve it as a Christmas side—if I can wait that long. The coldest, darkest days of the year call for a gooey, creamy, cheese-laden potato casserole like this one. Plus, how can you not love a recipe that just slabs an entire round of soft cheese over the top to melt?” – Leah Colins, senior culinary editor

South Korean e-commerce platform Coupang over the weekend said nearly 34 million Korean customers’ personal information had been leaked in a data breach that had been ongoing for more than five months. The company said it first detected the unauthorized exposure of 4,500 user accounts on November 18, but a subsequent investigation revealed that the breach had actually compromised about 33.7 million customer accounts in South Korea. The breach affected customers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping addresses and certain order histories, per Coupang. More sensitive data like payment information, credit card numbers, and login credentials was not compromised and…
