and eigenvectors are key concepts in linear algebra that also play an important role in data science and machine learning. Previously, we discussed how dimensionality reduction can be performed with eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the covariance matrix. Today, we’re going to discuss another interesting application: How eigenvalues and eigenvectors can be used to perform spectral clustering, which works well with complex cluster structures. In this article, we’ll explore how eigenvalues and eigenvectors make spectral clustering possible and why this method can outperform traditional K-means. We’ll begin with a simple visualization that will show you the importance of spectral clustering and…

Twitter is now X, AI is everywhere, Threads is a thing, LinkedIn is back, and TikTok had a big will-it-be-banned-won’t-it-be-banned fandango. But what the chaos has shown is that despite everything, social media is still one of the most powerful tools available to modern businesses. You can use it to find new clients, drive traffic to your site, and keep in touch with existing…

Eight in ten Performance Max advertisers are receiving connected TV (CTV) impressions via YouTube, as reported by Smarter Ecoommerce’s Mike Ryan. Google has expanded the channel’s reach over the past year — and the trajectory is only accelerating. The timeline of how we got here: Q2 2025: Google began serving CTV ads using standard product feed images, meaning advertisers with no video assets were suddenly generating TV impressions from their existing catalog photos January 2026: Google announced shoppable CTV ads — letting viewers browse products and scan QR codes to purchase directly from their TV screen, pulling directly from Google…

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a distaste for mayonnaise. There’s something about the texture, smell, and eggy flavor that I find unappealing. But that all changed during a recent crisis in Bon Appétit’s Test Kitchen, when I was introduced to a mayo that is so yummy, I could eat it straight from the jar.I was about to test the best panini presses when I realized I didn’t have mayonnaise to spread on the outside of the bread of my grilled cheese sandwiches. (I prefer mayo over butter because it spreads easily straight from the fridge and…

WordPress published a troubled security release version 6.9.2 to patch ten vulnerabilities that also caused some sites to crash (display a white screen), so WordPress quickly followed up with  a bugfix release version 6.9.3. Today, WordPress announced another update, version 6.9.4 because not all of the vulnerabilities were adequately addressed. WordPress security firm Wordfence published details of four of the vulnerabilities, which were rated as medium severity, while WordPress.org published the full list of ten, including one that’s due to an external PHP library. WordPress published the following advisory about why they needed to release an additional update: “WordPress 6.9.2…

Unlike their single-agent counterparts, multi-agent systems necessitate successful cooperation among the agents. The deployment of these systems in real-world scenarios often requires decentralized training, a diverse set of agents, and learning from infrequent environmental reward signals. These challenges become…

Bayesian statistics you’ve likely encountered MCMC. While the rest of the world is fixated on the latest LLM hype, Markov Chain Monte Carlo remains the quiet workhorse of high-end quantitative finance and risk management. It is the tool of choice when “guessing” isn’t enough and you need to rigorously map out uncertainty. Despite the intimidating acronym, Markov Chain Monte Carlo is a combination of two straightforward concepts: A Markov Chain is a stochastic process where the next state of the system depends entirely on its current state and not on the sequences of events that preceded it. This property is…
