Practice Makes Passing in computer science was anything but easy. I vividly remember reaching a breaking point around the end of the tenth week of my first semester. With just a few weeks until my first final, I sat staring at Calc 1 practice problems, spiraling into despair. I’d always been good at math. I did all the homework and paid attention in all the lectures. So how could it be that I didn’t even know where to start? Why wasn’t anything clicking? I often joked with friends about dropping out of the program, even well into my final semester.…
Marketers are drowning in data. But when it comes to actual, meaningful insights, they’re parched. You know the feeling. Pretending everything is under control as you navigate between countless dashboards, open tabs and versions of the same spreadsheet, pining for numbers that offer validation and direction. We’ve all been there. Leaders don’t need more data or dashboards to get the answers they’re looking for. They need intelligence that proves the “why” behind audience behavior so they can stop apologizing for spending money, and start making faster business decisions with confidence. That starts with a strong, clean data foundation. An effective…
What we love: Nutribullet might be best known for its personal smoothie blenders, but the brand recently debuted its full-size Power Core model with a whopping 72-oz. capacity and 1400 watts of peak power. The six-point stainless-steel blade effectively smoothed out leafy greens and chunky almonds, and I was able to get a creamy, cool, and ice-chunk-free smoothie out of it. Compared with the other top picks the pitcher is spacious, with a 72-oz. capacity, and I liked that the flat profile lid fit snugly inside like a plug. The whole assembly is only 17.5″ high, making it very countertop/cabinet…
Google is leaving the door open to advertising in its Gemini AI app, with a senior executive telling WIRED the company is “not ruling them out” — a notable shift from the flat denials made just months ago. What’s changed: In January, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis told reporters at Davos that Google had no plans to put ads in Gemini. Now, SVP Nick Fox is saying otherwise — noting that learnings from ads in AI Mode will “likely carry over” to Gemini down the road. The current strategy. Rather than rushing into Gemini, Google is using AI Mode —…
Ask ChatGPT’s default and premium models the same question, and they’ll cite almost entirely different sources, according to a Writesonic analysis. GPT-5.4 Thinking, ChatGPT’s premium model, sent 56% of its citations to brand websites. GPT-5.3 Instant, the default for all logged-in ChatGPT users, sent 8%. Across all prompts, the two models shared only 7% of their cited sources. The reason comes down to how each model searches the web before answering. Same Question, Different Search Strategy When models were asked about CRM software, GPT-5.3 sent one broad query and cited techradar.com and designrevision.com. GPT-5.4 sent separate queries restricted to hubspot.com,…
arXiv:2603.08561v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Large language model (LLM)-based agents trained with reinforcement learning (RL) have shown strong potential on complex interactive tasks. However, standard RL paradigms favor static problem-solving over continuous adaptation: agents often converge to suboptimal strategies due to insufficient exploration, while learned knowledge remains implicit within parameters rather than explicitly retrievable, limiting effective experiential learning. To address these limitations, we introduce RetroAgent, an online RL framework that empowers agents to master complex interactive environments not just by solving, but by evolving. Concretely, RetroAgent features a hindsight self-reflection mechanism that produces dual intrinsic feedback: (1) intrinsic numerical feedback…
project, it is often tempting to jump to modeling. Yet the first step and the most important one is to understand the data. In our previous post, we presented how the databases used to build credit scoring models are constructed. We also highlight the importance of asking right questions: Who are the customers? What types of loans are they granted? What characteristics appear to explain default risk? In this article, we illustrate this foundational step using an open-source dataset available on Kaggle: the Credit Scoring Dataset. This dataset contains 32,581 observations and 12 variables describing loans issued by a bank…
When OpenAI launched ChatGPT in late 2022, tech writers (myself included) became obsessed with testing its limits. Could it write poetry? Debug code? Explain quantum physics to a five-year-old? Once Anthropic’s Claude entered the scene a few months later, the focus shifted to head-to-head task comparisons (like counting objects or navigating ethical dilemmas) to try to figure out which model was more capable.Meet your new AI teammatesIn 2026—after countless model updates, and with game-changing agentic capabilities now available—assessing object-counting accuracy feels less relevant. With a few exceptions, Anthropic and OpenAI’s flagship models are essentially at parity. That means to usefully…
With AI-driven search and hyper-fragmented media channels reshaping how people discover brands, the “set it and forget it” approach to marketing measurement is officially dead. Measuring impact isn’t a static check of dashboard data. Used strategically, measurement is a virtuous cycle where data informs your ad platform settings and those settings, in turn, generate better data (and business outcomes). Here’s how to build a measurement flywheel that keeps your growth efficient. The 4-step measurement cycle Imagine a Bay Area SaaS company, PowerLoop, selling an AI-powered analytics platform. They’re investing heavily in Google Search, LinkedIn, and some emerging AI publication sponsorships.…
