Being a first-time dad can be overwhelming. It’s not easy juggling new responsibilities, sleep deprivation, and the endless tasks involved with taking care of a new baby.

Fortunately, some excellent mobile apps are built to relieve the pressure new dads face and help them become the best parents and partners they can be. Here are our picks for the best baby apps for new dads looking for handy resources and guidance.

    What We Like

    • Unlimited photo and video uploads.

    • Organize photos into albums or use the calendar.

    • You have full control over photo sharing permissions.

Taking photos of your children, especially when they’re tiny and adorable, is a no-brainer, but figuring out the best way to share them is another story. Tinybeans is a dedicated photo app that offers organization and gives parents full control over who gets to see their bundle of joy.

The app lets you organize your photos as you take them and offers other helpful tools such as parenting articles and how-to content, photo album collections, and calendar-based photos. Invite others to view your photos and enjoy their reactions.

Download and use Tinybeans for free or upgrade to a premium tier to upload high-res photos, save videos, eliminate ads, and more. A premium subscription costs about $8 per month.

    • Milestones are broken down by type, not just by age.

    • Articles deliver in-depth information.

    • Progress summary shows your child’s development.

Babies are constantly learning and developing, and BabySparks delivers fun and enriching activities for parents to share with their little ones while helping develop their potential.

Set up the app with basic information about your child. Depending on your child’s age and appropriate milestones, you get a daily program with several activities—as well as access to articles and other materials to help support your baby’s development. The app displays your baby’s progress by milestones and activities as you log progress and as they grow.

While you’ll receive access to BabySparks milestones, articles, and a few activities for free, to unlock the entire activity milestone library, you need to upgrade. Choose from monthly, annual, or lifetime paid subscriptions.

    What We Like

    • No additional hardware needed.

    • App costs considerably less than a baby monitor.

    • Access to live video, audio, and pictures.

Turn your phone into a camera/baby monitor with this app. Baby Monitor 3G lets you have peace of mind and get things done while your baby sleeps.

Baby Monitor 3G offers unlimited reach through a cellular or Wi-Fi connection. You need two compatible devices (smartphones, tablets, or laptops) in any combination to create the monitoring connection. For example, set up a tablet in the baby’s room and keep a smartphone with you at all times.

Once your devices are set up, enable video, listen to movement, and speak to your baby if you’re in another room. The app includes an activity mode that lets you know if your child is waking up and moving around.

Baby Monitor 3G is available for Android, iOS, and macOS devices and requires a one-time fee of around $5 to download. This expense is minor compared to a dedicated baby monitor that can cost closer to and well above $100.

Unless you have an unlimited data plan, using your data allotment with this app could get costly. Be mindful of the amount of data you use when you’re not on Wi-Fi.
