The newest Samsung Galaxy phones—the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7—include changes such as better cameras, longer battery life, and bigger screens than their predecessors. Also new is the introduction of a more affordable foldable: the Z Flip 7 FE.

Samsung also makes the Galaxy S series. The latest model is the Galaxy S25.

    What’s the Newest Galaxy Phone?

The newest Galaxy isn’t one phone. It’s a family of three, collectively called the Samsung Galaxy Z series. This series consists of:

    • Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: The least expensive model has the smallest screen (6.7 inches), starts with 128 GB of storage (choose up to 256 GB), and offers up to 24 hours of video playback.
    • Galaxy Z Flip 7: The Z Flip 7 has a larger screen (6.9 inches), more RAM than the FE, and up to 31 hours of video playback due to its larger battery.
    • Galaxy Z Fold 7: The Z Fold 7 has the biggest battery of the bunch, a better camera, a larger 8-inch screen, and up to 1 TB of storage.

While this is Samsung’s newest series, earlier models may still be available.

There’s also the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, which was announced in late 2025, but isn’t yet available in the US.

What Are the Key Features of the 2025 Samsung Galaxy Z Series?

All Galaxy Z series phones released in 2025 run Samsung’s One UI operating system based on Android. It comes with all of Android’s key features like Gemini, always-on display, one-handed mode, and more.

Artificial intelligence is a key feature in this line of phones. Samsung incorporates it into various aspects, including translation features and photo editing options, such as Instant Slow-mo, which generates additional frames based on movements to create slow-motion video.

Here are some additional new features added to the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7:

    • Better cameras: The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 features the first 200MP wide-angle camera in the series, capturing 4x more detail and delivering images that are 44 percent brighter. With advanced tools like a wider 10MP front camera, Night Video, and the ProVisual Engine, photos and videos are sharper and clearer in motion or low light.
    • One UI 8: This software update adds a lot to the new Samsung phones. Gemini Live now uses multimodal AI to understand visuals, voice, and actions, letting you ask contextual questions and get instant answers without switching apps. New AI tools like Results View and creative assists streamline multitasking and boost productivity across large screens.
    • Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: The new Z Flip 7 FE brings the foldable experience to more users with a compact design, a 6.7-inch main display, and a 50MP FlexCam for hands-free content capture. Its cover screen now shows useful updates like weather and commute alerts in a layout optimized for its smaller form.

Those are just some of the new features; you can find more in our dedicated Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 articles.

How Is the Newest Samsung Phone Different From the Last Generation?

While the 2025 Galaxy Z series is the newest set of Samsung smartphones, the last generation is still available.

If you want to get a great Galaxy phone at a lower price, consider the Z Fold 6 or Z Flip 6. Before you do, though, it’s important to understand these key differences.

Here are some differences between the Z Fold 7 and Z Fold 6:

    • Better Camera: Samsung gave the Galaxy Z Fold 7 a massive camera boost, including a 200MP ultra-wide camera, a bump from the Fold 6’s 50MP camera.
    • Bigger Screen: The screen on the Z Fold 7 is 8 inches, while the older model’s is 7.6 inches.
    • Faster Processor: The Z Fold 6’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is a powerhouse, but it’s been supplanted by the Z Fold 7’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Samsung says it delivers a performance boost of 41 percent in NPU, 38 percent in CPU, and 26 percent in GPU compared to the previous generation.
