This Popular Burger Chain Is Bringing the Year’s Most Viral Recipe to the Drive-Thru

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Launches Smash Burger Tacos 

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers just turned one of our favorite viral recipes of the year into an exciting new menu item. Starting Jan. 7, fans can stop in and try a Smash Burger Taco as part of the chain’s 2026 Value Snack Menu.

Freddy’s Smash Burger Taco features a juicy steakburger patty topped with melted American cheese, lettuce, and Freddy’s Signature Jalapeño Fry Sauce. Similar to our Smash Burger Taco, the ingredients are nestled into a grilled flour tortilla, rather than a fluffy hamburger bun. The result is a delicious bite that truly lets the meat and toppings shine. You can snag a Smash Burger Taco at Freddy’s for just $3.49, though prices may vary by location. 

The restaurant says the new creation is an ode to its namesake menu item. “Freddy’s new Smash Burger Taco is a culinary twist on everything our guests love about our signature steakburger. We’ve reimagined it into a convenient, craveable, and perfectly snack-sized option,” said Rick Petralia, Chef and Director of Menu Strategy & Innovation for Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.

To wash it all down, Freddy’s is offering Mini Frosts for just $2. For those unfamiliar, Frosts are made with creamy vanilla frozen custard blended with flavorful additions, such as lemonade and orange crème powder. New this month, you can also treat yourself to a Hot Chocolate Frost, which features Ghirardelli hot cocoa, whipped cream, and a sprinkle of cocoa powder to top it all off.

Just over $5 for a cheesy Smash Burger Taco and an ice-cold drink? Count us in. Be sure to hit the drive-thru and try Freddy’s new mash-up meal and snag a Hot Chocolate Frost while it’s still available.
