It’s officially Christmas week and Boxing Day deals are coming in fast, with a lot of our favourite tech getting similar (or sometimes better) discounts compared to Black Friday just last month. One of the deals I’ve spotted today is the still-brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+, which has already received a generous 44% discount for Boxing Day.

This budget-oriented Android tablet was announced only about a month ago and is the successor to the well-received Galaxy Tab A9+, with a new MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB), 25W fast charging (up from 15W) and storage options starting at 128GB (compared to the A9+’s base 64GB). While it’s still a step down from the Galaxy Tab S series, an Android tablet with these specs for under A$300 is hard to pass up.

The A9+ was launched in Australia in October 2023, so the jump in specs for the A11+ isn’t surprising. What jumped out to me was the longer software support from 4 years for the A9+ to 7 years for the A11+. While the design of both tablets are similar, the A11+ has an IP52 rating for dust and light splash resistance, whereas the A9+ did not have an IP rating.

The A11+ retains the 11-inch TFT LCD and the 90Hz refresh rate, but the screen brightness is up from 400 nits to 480. The tablet also retains the 7,040mAh battery.

Also added to the Tab A11+ are some of Samsung’s Galaxy AI features that were previously reserved for the Tab S series, including Circle to Search, solving maths equations within Samsung Notes, and integration with Google Gemini.

Like the A9+, this tablet would be more suited for media consumption and daily browsing, plus apps like Google Docs or Microsoft Office will work fantastically well too. If you’re after something for art and design, though, you’ll need to look elsewhere. With that said, this tablet is still a lot cheaper than any iPad for sale here in Australia, and you get great value for AU$297.
