    The Download

    • You can find free Kindle books from websites like Amazon, eReaderIQ, and BookBub.
    • Some sites offer limited-time free books, so check often to not miss great titles.
    • If you don’t own a Kindle, use the Kindle reading app to enjoy free ebooks on any device.

These websites offer an excellent selection of free books for your Kindle. These options stand out for their extensive collections and user-friendly features, making it easy to find the books you want.

Amazon is a top choice for free book downloads for two major reasons: the $0 price is accurate, and the books are sent directly to your Kindle.

Amazon offers hundreds of free eBooks with subsections for categories like Short Reads, Nonfiction Singles, History, and Parenting, making it easier to find your next read.

    What We Like

    • Email subscription will notify you of new titles.

    • Wide array of categories.

    • Free filter helps isolate no-cost books.

    • Sort by date to find newly added titles.

    • Also lists heavily discounted books.

Select a book title at BookBub, and you’ll get a synopsis, a photo of the book cover, and sometimes its release date.

I absolutely love the all the categories that are available on this site. In addition to the typical ones like fantasy and business are others like Rom-Com, Parenting, Humor, Middle Grade, Dark Romance, Psychological Thrillers, and Time Travel Romance.

One awesome plus about this source is that most of these titles are also available through other sites like Apple, Google, and Kobo, so those links are provided in addition to the Amazon link. If you sign up for the daily newsletter, you’ll get these links sent to you directly.

    What We Don’t Like

    • Cluttered appearance.

    • Lots of website ads.

eReaderIQ offers numerous extra features, making it a favorite resource for free Kindle books.

Books are updated hourly, so you won’t miss limited-time offers. Notifications can alert you when new Amazon books are added.

Browsing is simple—you can sort by newest, rating, and length, and even set preferences to show only new books added within the last day.

A major benefit? Each listing shows how long ago its price was verified, unlike many sites that lack reliable pricing updates.

    What We Like

    • Uncluttered, ad-free design.

    • Properly formatted for Kindle.

    • Monthly emails about new ebooks.

Standard Ebooks offers a collection of “carefully formatted, accessible, open source, and free public domain ebooks.” It’s an excellent source for Kindle books, specifically as AZW3 files. It also hosts EPUB files.

One major benefit of this website is the absence of ads, making it incredibly user-friendly. The layout simplifies finding a book. You can choose from subjects like satire, poetry, travel, and memoir, in addition to traditional categories. You can download books and transfer them to your Kindle manually or read them online in your browser.

You can download these books and then transfer them to your Kindle manually, or read them online in your web browser.

    What We Like

    • Lengthy category list.

    • Download up to 50 eBooks per day.

    • No user account necessary.

    • Pick the file format you prefer.

    • Instant download; no wait time.

DigiLibraries gathers free Kindle books from independent authors and publishers. You can download these items directly from their website in formats like PDF, EPUB, and MOBI.

I like that there are categories (lots of them) on the left side of the page to quickly see free Kindle books that are relevant only to those topics. It speeds up the work of narrowing down the books to find what I’m looking for.

Despite the ads, ManyBooks is an excellent source for free Kindle books. It searches the internet to find the greatest and latest titles, with over 50,000 books currently listed.

The sorting options allow you to quickly find the most popular or highest-rated books in any category.

You can browse by author, title, or language, then download the book. Some are available as an AZW3 Kindle file, while others come in PDF, EPUB, FB2, and more. They can also be read in your browser, and some titles include a link to Amazon to get the free book there.

Another way to search is through the genres or Recommendations page.

    What We Don’t Like

    • Not available everywhere.

    • Libraries limited to a certain number of loans per day.

    • Audiobooks are mixed in the lists.

I like getting eBooks through OverDrive because it’s like checking out a physical book from a library, but way easier. However, because of this, it only works if your public library has a subscription to OverDrive; use the Library Search page to find out which libraries near you offer this deal.

Much like library books, when you check out an eBook here, it’s loaned to you for a few weeks before being automatically removed from your Kindle.

You can also borrow books through their mobile app Libby.

This website excels at categorizing public domain books. You can browse by title and author like most sites, but the curated collections set it apart.

The collections are curated sets of books from various authors, organized into common themes. One such theme is movies based on books. Others include inspiring female writers, the greatest villains in classic literature, and winners of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Similar to collections, series are book sets by the same author that should be read in order. Examples include the Oz books, the Sherlock Holmes series, and Tolstoy’s autobiographical trilogy.

Most books are available in various formats, such as PDF, EPUB, and MOBI. If you prefer not to download, you can also read them online.

The daily email alerts from eBookDaily are a great source of inspiration. Each email features three free Kindle books from various genres likeTeens & Young Adult, Business & Investing, Self Help, Fantasy, Children’s Books, and Religious & Inspirational Fiction.

Below each book, Amazon’s star rating, the number of reviews, cover image, and description are displayed. Acquiring the free book on Amazon is just a click or two away.

You can browse the previous day’s free books, but they are likely no longer free.

Updated hourly with new content, Centsless Books offers over 30 genres of free Kindle books. The website is straightforward to use.

Books are listed on a single page with cover image thumbnails and direct links to Amazon. While more book details would be helpful before clicking through to Amazon, it isn’t a significant issue.

If you prefer not to visit Centsless Books’ website for updates, consider subscribing to their email updates.

    What We Like

    • Ratings listed.

    • Frequent updates.

    • Ad-free site.

    • Lots of categories.

Freebook Sifter is a straightforward free Kindle book website listing tens of thousands of titles. There are over a dozen categories to choose from, with each title accompanied by an average rating so you can sort for top-rated books.

The ‘Last Verified’ column shows when a book was last confirmed as free on Amazon, and the site’s extensive categories are very helpful.

Subscribe to their daily alerts for emails about new books.

    What We Like

    • New books added frequently.

    • Multiple genres available.

    • Download directly from the original store.

    • Shows the day the book is free.

    What We Don’t Like

    • Primarily used to promote books.

    • Some eBooks are only sample chapters.

    • Fewer genres than some sites.

    • Some paid books incorrectly labeled as free.

Freebooksy is a free eBook blog featuring mainly free Kindle books, but it also includes free Nook books and free eBooks from Kobo, Apple, and Google.

New books are listed daily, and often multiple listings are added in a single day. You can download one or all available.

A beneficial aspect of this site is that the download links lead to the store where the book is offered, such as Amazon for Kindle books, Google Play, or Apple Books. This allows you to download directly to your device using those apps.

A few genres available here include Science Fiction, Horror, Mystery, Romance, Literary Fiction, and Cookbooks & Nutrition.

OHFB compiles thousands of free Kindle books from Amazon and offers features that make it easy to find your next great read.

You can search by category or keyword to quickly navigate what’s available. Books are in common categories like horror, young adult, and fiction, and there are unique sections like crafts, hobbies & home, women’s fiction, and cookbooks.

There are ads on this site, but otherwise, it feels pretty clean. Large photos of the book covers make it especially easy to quickly scroll through and stop to read the descriptions of books you’re interested in. Every page also shows related books to help you find something else you’ll like.

    What We Like

    • Useful email newsletter.

    • No website ads.

There aren’t a ton of options here, but the website is free from ads, lists all the free Kindle eBooks on the same page, and does a decent job showing only truly free titles.

Where The Fussy Librarian really excels, though, is the newsletter. Much like my other choices in this list, I recommend signing up for the newsletter to get email alerts when new free books are available.

One great thing about this site’s free Kindle book newsletter is that you can customize which days you want to hear from them, including daily, plus choose the categories you want to be informed about.

    What We Don’t Like

    • Scans from hard-copies can be difficult to read on Kindle.

    • Titles might have waiting lists.

    • Most books are available for renewable 1-hour loans.

Open Library is a free Kindle book downloading and lending service that has well over 1 million eBook titles available. I recommend checking out Library Explorer; it’s a neat way to visualize these books in a virtual library.

They seem to specialize in classic literature, but you can also browse recipe books and fantasies, among other genres. Searching by keyword is also allowed, as is browsing by subjects, authors, and genre.

One thing I like is that some books can be borrowed for up to two weeks at a time. However, most of these ebooks are available as 1-hour loans that you have to keep renewing to continue reading.

Each book can be read online or downloaded in various file formats like DJVU, EPUB, plain text, and PDF.

Founded in 2008, Smashwords began as a platform for authors to publish and sell ebooks. The site offers thousands of free titles, snippets of paid ones, and purchasable books.

This site stands out for its vast range of categories and advanced filtering options. You can sort books by the newest, most downloaded, or highest rated, and find ebooks under a specific word count.

Readers can leave reviews and comments—a feature many Kindle book sites lack. All content is available as an EPUB file.

Kindle Buffet on Weberbooks is updated daily with top free books from Amazon. It displays the book cover, summary, genre, and author.

This site isn’t a top pick due to intrusive ads, but it’s worth considering if other Kindle book sources haven’t been helpful, especially since it updates daily.

    What We Like

    • Updated often.

    • Ratings are provided.

The eReader Cafe offers daily listings for free Kindle books and select bargain titles.

Browsing through the website allows you to explore books with high ratings, and each listing features the book cover, genre, and synopsis.

You can opt for daily email subscriptions and follow social media profiles if you prefer not to visit the site daily. When signing up for emails, you can select the genres that interest you.

    What We Like

    • Unique titles not found elsewhere.

    • Thousands of free ebooks.

    • Direct copying to cloud storage.

    • No website ads.

Project Gutenberg offers over 75,000 free books without any ads. It’s an excellent resource for those searching for unique titles.

Use the search box to locate a specific book, or browse detailed categories for your next read. Titles can be viewed by top downloads or recently added.

You can easily copy books to Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive accounts without the hassle of downloading and uploading.

The site focuses on older works with expired US copyrights, mainly available as EPUB or PDF. Some titles can also be read online.

BookGoodies offers a wide range of fiction and non-fiction Kindle books in various genres, including Paranormal, Women’s Fiction, Humor, and Travel, all available for free download from Amazon.

Each download page displays the time frame a book is available for free download, along with a full description and sometimes a link to the author’s website. However, some books are free forever.

Social media pages help you discover new additions, and there’s also an email service that sends free Kindle books to you daily.

PixelScroll provides a daily list of free Kindle eBooks, complete with genre, synopsis, and cover details. You can also find out when a free book will return to its regular price.

The site offers a user-friendly one-page list of available titles without any ads.

One downside and the reason for its lower ranking is its inconsistent updating of free book expiration dates. Sometimes the date is too early, making the book no longer free on Amazon, or too late, keeping the book free longer than indicated.
